FAQ

Here are some of the most common questions we hear
How do you select participants?

Applicants to the Recharge program start by filling out an online form, sharing their situation and explaining why they need a break. They also provide two Rabbinical references. After we speak with the applicant, we take care to verify their story and circumstances with their references. Once everything is confirmed, we reach out with the happy news and help them enjoy the much needed time away they so deserve.

Who do you help through the Vacation Relief Fund?

We help families in our community who are going through especially difficult times. Many are single parents, widows, or families caring for a loved one with a disability. Others are facing serious illness, mental health challenges, or ongoing financial struggles. These families are under immense stress and would not otherwise have the chance to take a much needed break. Our goal is to give them the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time together.

Where do families go and for how long?

Each family receives a carefully planned mini vacation, typically lasting three to four nights. We arrange relaxing stays in cottages, hotels, or Airbnbs, usually within a three hour drive. Destinations often include places like Niagara Falls and other nearby spots where families can rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful time together.

Do you expand beyond summer vacations?

Yes. In addition to providing summer getaways, we also create opportunities for families to enjoy uplifting community events throughout the year. Three times a year, we rent out entire family entertainment venues and host special events that bring together 200 to 300 participants. We offer highly subsidized tickets for these events through our sister website, www.tickets613.com. These events are typically held during Chol Hamoed and Yeshiva break, and have included activities such as snow tubing, indoor trampoline parks, and water parks.

Do you operate in Canada and the US?

Yes. We are based in Canada and also operate in the US, where we began expanding a few years ago. Our ability to offer programs in both countries depends on available funding. We are now proudly in our sixth year helping families recharge.

As a single mother working full time, I could never dream of taking my child on a vacation. When friends were going away, I worried what we would do. This beautiful three night getaway was a true gift. We created warm memories, relaxed, and returned home refreshed. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. It gave us peace of mind and a boost of joy that will carry us into the new year. Thank you.

As a divorced single mother working over 50 hours a week just to make ends meet, I have no time or budget for vacations. This getaway was a true gift. My son, who struggles with anxiety, also benefited so much from the change of scenery. We enjoyed precious time together and I was finally able to relax and recharge. I am truly grateful for this opportunity. Thank you.

I cannot thank you enough for what you did for me and my family. At the end of summer, we had no vacation plans and my children kept asking. Then came the call offering a cottage stay. The moment we arrived, I felt a heavy load lift. We enjoyed true family time and emotional calm we had not felt in years. Hearing my children proudly share their experience with friends was priceless. This gift gave us joy, memories, and so much more than I could have imagined. Thank you.

I want to thank the Recharge team for this incredible chesed. As a single mother of four going through a difficult divorce, we could not afford a vacation this year. Our time in Niagara Falls let us set aside the stress and simply enjoy being together. For a few precious days, my children were free to choose activities without worrying about cost. This experience gave us joy and a sense of normalcy we truly needed. Thank you.

We are so grateful to Recharge Vacation Relief and its supporters. Our family, with children ages 11 to 19, has never been able to afford a real vacation. I live with multiple rare diseases that cause constant pain and mobility issues, leaving me on permanent disability. This getaway gave our children the chance to relax and experience joy. With two spinal procedures ahead, this break provided much needed peace for our family. Thank you.

This vacation was a true gift. We faced a stressful summer uncertain about school options for our gifted child with social and emotional challenges. Travel is difficult for us due to health and financial limits, so taking the train made this possible. The break gave us precious bonding time without daily pressures. My daughter loved every moment, especially watching fireworks over the falls. This experience made a huge difference for our family. We are so grateful.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy a three day vacation at the cottage. As a family of nine living in a small two bedroom apartment, a vacation was beyond reach. Our children had never experienced anything like this. The time together in nature gave us a chance to recharge and return home with renewed strength and clarity for the new school year. You truly make a big difference in people’s lives. Thank you.

Our Shalom Bayis was restored as we relaxed and recharged. Caring for my husband with Parkinson’s is challenging, and this vacation was a true gift. Our accessible accommodations in Niagara were wonderful, and we were treated with such warmth and respect. The time away gave us strength to face what lies ahead. May Hashem bless you for making this possible.

I would like to express my deep appreciation for the wonderful vacation your organization provided. As a senior living alone without a car, I could never have afforded this. I had looked forward to it all year. The experience gave me a boost of energy and health. I am truly grateful to everyone who made this possible. God bless you all.

This vacation was a much needed break after a difficult year of illness and financial stress. We could not afford camp or a trip this summer, and my wife faced emergency surgery with a tough recovery. The getaway gave us precious family bonding time without life’s usual pressures. Our children loved the attention, and now have happy memories to share at school. We are so grateful for this opportunity.

I am so grateful for this incredible organization. After six exhausting months fundraising for my son’s Yeshiva, a vacation felt impossible. As a single mother with no family or financial support here, life is not easy. This much needed getaway let us enjoy precious time together that we otherwise could not have afforded. We returned recharged and ready for the year ahead. To all donors, your generosity truly impacts families like mine. May you be blessed with abundant Brachos, happiness, good health, and success. Tizku le Mitzvot. Thank you.

This past year was very difficult as our oldest child with autism struggled with the transition to high school. Watching him suffer affected our entire family. By summer, we were all burnt out and could not afford a vacation after covering therapy and tutoring costs. Thanks to this opportunity, we were able to relax, reconnect, and heal as a family. The break helped us return home refreshed, and our children began the new school year in a much better place. We are truly grateful.
